Part 1: Explanation of 2-5-1 chords, the most commonly used jazz progression, describing the theory behind them plus where, when and how to use them. Includes twelve cool, 2-5-1 chord progressions to expand your jazz vocabulary plus Mp3 practice track to help you incorporate into your playing. This will also help you recognize 2-5-1 chords when you hear or see them.
Part 2:Continuing with our study of 2 5 1 chord voicings, we explore 12 more cool sounds. Learn all 24 voicings so when you read this progression on a rhythm chart you will react with some hipper jazz sounds.
Part 3: Master this important progression with some uncommon voicings to create your own unique sound. Learn to take a minor7b5 chord, which is 2 in a minor key, alter one tone to create a diminished chord which functions as a 5 chord then resolve it to a minor 1 chord. Discover all of the inversions of these chords in three closed position string groups and again in two open positions string groups. This will prove to be very valuable since many jazz tunes are either written in minor or have temporary minor tonalities.
