Learn Rich’s cool, funky, jazzy/bluesy fingerstyle arrangement. The tune includes both thumping and walking bass lines and is suitable for electric or acoustic guitar. The piece is challenging but Rich breaks each 2 bar section down slowly by measure. Start with chords and jazz moves that give it an interesting sound then add a call and response chorus between bass and treble strings. Incorporate some harmonized blues scales to create horn section style lines and some more new harmonized licks. Break into a boogie woogie pattern with a call and response this boogie style. Add a line using open string pull offs to make as much sound with the guitar as possible while still maintaining this bluesy style. Then switch gears adding a Count Basie style riff with a walking bass line and lots of jazz chords and modulate it up a minor 3rd. Finish with a couple of different turn arounds and an ending tag. After mastering these lessons you can use the ideas to craft your own fingerstyle blues pieces. 11 video lessons with PDF available individually or as a set.
