This series shows how a jazz guitarist might take the stark chords presented in in the Real Book and apply substitutions, inversions and chord moves or riffs to make an accompaniment that is both interesting and melodic. The "Real Book" is a book of song charts that might be played at an engagement or gig. It has been used by musicians for decades. Charts simply present the melody with the basic chords written above. It is up to the musician to bring these tunes to life with his personal interpretation and embellishments of the basic chart.
