Here's a series of impressive double time 2-5-1 jazz/bebop licks. These licks are aimed at the serious jazz player, they are demanding but they'll build your chops. Lick #1 is the introduction to this new series explaining learning ideas and their purpose. It's written around a 2- 5-1 in the key of C. Lick #2 is written around a 2-5-1 in the key of Bb. Lick #3is written in Ab and uses minor chord arpeggios over the dominant chords in a succession of minor thirds to create altered sounds. maneuvers through different tonal ideas that interact with the 2-5-1 chord progression in Bb. The success of learning this lick lies in the picking pattern. Using "Speed Picking" and hammers and pull offs makes the lick sound harder than it is. Symmetrical fretboard patterns also makes this lick easier than most, it's actually a good one to start the series.
Each lick is demonstrated close up and slowly on the fretboard then rehearsed beat by beat with explanations about the theory behind the notes.45 minute video with licks transcribed in a printable PDF written in both tab and notation plus an Mp3 two minute practice loop.
