This video starts our journey exploring sequences. Diatonic, scale wise, sequences can be a valuable tool for improv soloing. Rich starts with first learning a simple four note cell which he likes to call "the jazz cell" to every scale degree and then proceeds to transpose it in 3rds, 4ths, 5ths and 6ths. This simple cell can be the single component of a longer and lusher musical phrase. Next Rich shows the "mirror image " of the cell transposed and then combined with the original to create a less predicable line. 46 minute video with PDF music in tab and notation.
